— Embroidering with electromagnets

In this workshop we will learn the basics of electromagnetism, understanding how some magnets can be turned on an off. From the basic physical principals we will derive design rules, and start making our own electromagnets.

With those we will then go into prototyping mode, designing and making simple circuits to make fun kinetic interactions using textile techniques and materials. Those interested in sound, can take it further and see how embroidered coils, also electromagnets, can become textile speakers.
